Ludwig Kirchner, Franz Marc

Here are a few paintings that I have taken interest to lately. I am currently still studying art styles on my own to pin on my free time. I shall analyze each one briefly.

Ludwig Kirchner

Expressionism is the style of this famous painter.

In the first painting it portrays a night scene where people are casually strolling by. The whole painting exudes an entertaining atmosphere such as that of New York's It may be a wishful desire conveyed by the artist saying that he wants to live a normal life that would incongruously be a window of fascination and wonder for him.

In the second painting, the yellow mustard shade he used gives a sophisticated glow to the town. It makes the town seem lively in the sense that it flourishes. But for me it does not exhibit an aura of creativity and merely conforms to the conservative manner in which it thrives on.

The Fate of the Animals - Franz Marc

The style here is absolutely awesome! I love the action strokes, they portray such liveliness and frustration. The brown smoke signifies all the animals have to put up with while the live in their own habitat. People trying to destroy the forests for their own advantage, industrialization taking over all that nature has been living for. Until this time (nearly a century after this was painted) it still holds truth about what is happening.

Tiger - Franz Marc

I see a feeling of fear in the painting. The subject is weakened but needs to keep itself aware of its surroundings so that it may survive the fierce wilderness. I love the geometric style and the cubist way of shading. The mid-gray tone smudged before painting the actual dark strokes give the painting more dimension. The colors are vivid and create a fauvist style of painting.

These are all amazing pieces of art. They truly inspire me to be the best artist I can be.
